Take Me out to the Ball Game

Brewers Community Foundation Donates Tickets to Playworks

This month, our Junior Coaches from Allen Field Elementary, Albert Story, and Neeskara Elementary schools recruited their families to join Playworks for a night at the ballpark. The Brewers Community Foundation generously donated 200 tickets for our Playworks families to cheer on the Brewers at one of their best games this season.

The night started with Coach Maddy and Coach Jena engaging the crowd in our “milkshake” cheer. Our chants reverberated throughout section 225, encouraging everyone to get loud and cheer on the home team. Our Junior Coaches, with the help of Coach Natalie even started the “wave” which made its way across multiple sections of the stadium.

Many of our kids brought their gloves in hopes of catching a home run ball. We chanted and cheered, and Playworks board member, Derek Pleasants, was challenged to a dance-off with the Neeskara students. (He was less successful). A few home runs, lots of smiles, and a sausage race later, the Brewers earned a win against the White Sox.

This was a great experience for the Playworks community to witness a team effort to achieve a goal (and have a few peanuts and cracker jacks while watching). See photos of all the fun on Facebook.

Thank you to all the Playworks Junior Coaches, family, and friends for joining us, and thank you to the Brewers Community Foundation for taking Playworks out to the ballgame. We look forward to continuing our partnership with you next school year.
