Dion Mentors & Inspires Coach Isaiah

Dion Wiggins, Isaiah’s foster dad, saw the potential in him long before Isaiah ever dreamed of becoming a Playworks Coach.

As someone who dedicated his own life to supporting and mentoring young people as an educator and football coach, Dion recognized Isaiah’s natural resilience, empathy, and commitment to helping others.

He took Isaiah under his wing, instilling the belief that building genuine relationships and meeting people where they are isn’t just important—it’s transformative.

Dion often led by example, demonstrating how showing up for others with patience and understanding could change lives. Watching Dion work with youth, Isaiah learned that being present and offering unconditional support could have a lasting impact.

These lessons stuck with Isaiah and formed the foundation of his own approach to mentorship.

“Seeing him understand the importance of connecting with others and wanting to have genuine relationships… it’s very nice to see,” Dion shared, reflecting on how Isaiah has taken those values and made them his own.

Today, as a Playworks coach, Isaiah brings that same dedication to the playground. He creates a safe, inclusive space where every child feels seen, valued, and empowered to grow. In many ways, Isaiah is following in Dion’s footsteps, using play as a tool to build connections and uplift the next generation.

Isaiah’s work is a testament to the powerful influence of a mentor who believes in you. Dion’s guidance shaped the man Isaiah has become, and now, through his work with Playworks, Isaiah is paying it forward—one game, one conversation, and one connection at a time.

Together, their story is a reminder of how one person’s impact can echo through the lives of many, creating a ripple effect of support and leadership that extends far beyond the playground.
