Los Angeles, CA—On March 19, 2017— Team Playworks will be an official charity for the 2017 LA Marathon, running to transform the social and emotional health of every kid through recess and play.
The LA Marathon is an important opportunity to increase awareness and raise funds for Playworks. This year is also unique in that Playworks Southern California Board Member Jared Blank will be running for Team Playworks.
As an active member of the Southern California Board of the Directors for the past two years, Blank guides strategies and helps build relationship activities in the LA community.
“The overall vision of Playworks is to build inclusion and healthy play at recess,” Blank says. “The benefits go beyond the playground: it affects kids' success in the classroom and their overall education.”
Blank values Playworks' model which allows students to go to the playground, have a positive play experience, and come back to the classroom with focus.
Blank will be one of the 22 registered runners for Team Playworks at the LA Marathon, with this being his sixth marathon. He runs for play to create a sense of community so that everyone feels connected by the experience.
“Being a part of Team Playworks for the LA Marathon is a unique experience to connect with the community in a way that can contribute to children’s lives,” Blank says.
Playworks’ involvement in the LA Marathon will be a special experience that will have a lasting impact for everyone involved.
