Service to me is selflessly devoting time and effort into the betterment of those around us. As an AmeriCorps member I serve the cause of growth and development of our youth because I want them to be prepared for the success they are destined for.

Meet our AmeriCorps coaches! Coach Kye, Coach Dante, and Coach Courtney share with us the importance of service and what they have learned thus far.
Coach Kye
Service is something that is very important to me and it is something that I enjoy applying to many areas of my life. Service can be done on small and large scales but I believe it is a responsibility we all have to help our fellow man however we can. I am serving as an AmeriCorps member because it gives me the opportunity to serve a population I love working with daily in a way that is unexpected but very important. I have had a few memorable experiences so far throughout my term of service but I am quite fond of the moment I witnessed one of my kindergarteners’ learn to jump rope successfully. She had been trying for a couple of weeks and the excitement on her face when she finally did it was priceless.

Service to me is selflessly devoting time and effort to the betterment of those around us. As an AmeriCorps member, I serve the cause of growth and development of our youth because I want them to be prepared for the success they are destined for. I chose to be an AmeriCorps member because I am given a chance to be a pivotal force of positive reinforcement, potentially changing the lives of both kids and their families. I had great leaders and role models in my elementary school years, and I want to be the same for the kids I work with. My favorite memory of service so far has been briefly speaking and listening during the AmeriCorps Commission board meeting, as it has given me a fresh perspective on the program and our purpose.
Coach Courtney
Service to me means providing resources or skills to others that will improve mankind and support an important cause. I chose to serve as an AmeriCorps member because I knew I would be granted an experience that would impact the lives of children. This position also helps build me up as a pillar in my community through gaining new skills and abilities through professional development. My favorite memory this year is when I had a second grader write me a note about how he loved recess and learning new games and ended it with he loved me for who I am.
