Meet Three Stellar Volunteers

  1. Updates

Ben DeMarco is a recent graduate of Duke University working at the Duke Division of Community Health. He plans on attending medical school in the fall.

Why Ben enjoys volunteering at Playworks:

I came to Playworks because one of my best friends was a coach, but I stayed for the kids.  Going to Lakewood on Fridays has been a great way to unwind at the end of the week, to hang out some awesome kids and see the great things Playworks is doing. I enjoy reading theology, playing soccer and getting hype with 'The Kindernation' (the kindergartners)  to the song 'Hot Cheetos and Takis.'

Miray Seward is a junior at Duke University and a member of the Duke Track and Field team and the Duke Association for Business Oriented Women.

Why Miray enjoys volunteering at Playworks:

I love volunteering with Playworks because of the children and the time I spend playing with and getting to know them.  I enjoy being able to see the children mature over the year. Seeing a smile spread across their face when I arrive each week is all the reward I need.

McCall Ballentine is a double major at UNC in Exercise and Sport Science and Psychology.

Why McCall enjoys volunteering at Playworks:

Volunteering gives me something to look forward to each week. Not only do I love playing with the kids, but they also have helped me to vastly improve my four-square skills. I have had a lot of fun working with great kids and a great coach (shout-out to Coach Allie)!

Sending a huge "WHOOSH" clap to these three volunteers and all our stand out volunteers! Check back again to meet a few more!
