Meet Coach Jordan

  1. Updates

“Two years ago, I started a journey.”

A Baltimore, Maryland native, I’ve always dreamed of living in the city of Philadelphia. I have also always had a passion for helping the youth of America. Fortunately, as a result of AmeriCorps, these dreams were made possible. In the summer of 2015, Playworks was recruiting for the 2015-2016 school year and hired me to be a coach. The experience has been amazing and extremely eye opening.

Last year, I served youth in the Mount Eire section of the city, and this year I am serving youth in North Philadelphia. I am humbled by the continued community growth that has been created through my time served in AmeriCorps, and by the opportunity to empower youth through the power of play!

Playworks continues to be a gem. I envision it as everything AmeriCorps is about, from the genuine care and energy it took to create a dynamic recess program at Richard R. Wright Elementary, to the energy of serving at a girls’ basketball jamboree with over 200 children in attendance.

AmeriCorps has helped me develop a stronger sense of community, a reassured energy, and the empowerment to get things done! I love AmeriCorps and all that it entails, and I would not trade this experience serving my community for anything in the world.
