Schools are closed. Sports are canceled. Recess is still on schedule.

Playworks knows that children need physical activity and social-emotional support now more than ever in order to successfully navigate this turbulent time. We launched #PlayAtHome to share new resources for kids, families, and school partners:

  • On-Demand Video Content: need game ideas? Check out these pre-recorded Recess sessions featuring Playworks Coaches leading games, Minute Movers, and Brain Breaks to support physical activity, release energy, and increase focus.
  • Live Recess Streams (M-F, 10-15 min., 11 am, 1 pm, and 3 pm CT): Playworks Coaches are broadcasting Recess live on Facebook. Tune in daily for stretching, warm-ups, interactive games, cheers, and cool-down activities.
  • Playbook: a how-to game guide for parents and caregivers (available in multiple languages).

Why Playworks?

Playworks is the leading nonprofit leveraging the power of play to transform children’s physical social, and emotional health. Playworks’ evidence-based programs have been proven to help create a school culture where all students are included and have the opportunity to be physically active while developing key social skills, like cooperation and conflict resolution, that are critical to success in and outside of school.

Now more than ever, these skills are essential to helping kids across the country combat stress and anxiety and successfully navigate the uncertainty and change associated with the COVID-19 crisis. Our vision is to make sure kids experience safe, healthy play every day. And in this climate of prolonged school closures, we’re rethinking how we can ensure kids continue experiencing the benefits of play.

This fall, back to school is going to have a whole new meaning and our goal is that Playworks will be there day one supporting students, building community, and reimagining play.

Help us be there when kids in our community go back to school. Donate today.
