Honoring Martin Luther King Jr. Through Serving our Community

  1. Updates

In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, our staff and AmeriCorps members spent the day giving back to our community.

We partnered with Urban Farm Collective to help plant and landscape community garden spaces across Portland.

The Urban Farm Collective brings neighbors together to transform vacant lots into neighborhood food gardens for the purposes of education, community building, and improving food security.

We learned all about social permaculture, which is the idea that we can attempt to create conditions that favor nurturing and empowering relationships. Healthy community is a Playworks core value, and we loving taking the opportunity to contribute to the well-being of our community and appreciate Urban Farm Collective doing their part!
