On October 6, 2018, Playworks Northern California hosted our First Family Fun Run for Recess. The event was led by our Silicon Valley team and fostered families coming together in play and celebration.

Moms, dads, kids and other family members had a super fun time jumping, running, and dodging through obstacles along the Fun Run like hopscotch, hula hoop tag, and lots of high fives waiting for them at the end! A highlight was seeing our families stretch together at the beginning of the event in an interactive “Running through the Forest” activity led by our Regional Director, Ben Neveras, where kids and adults imagined they were in a forest avoiding “furry friends” as they warmed up their bodies. It was great to see our communities come together to promote kindness, inclusion, and safe and healthy play in our schools.

A big thanks to a number of local Northern California businesses including Trader Joe’s, Burger Lounge, Running Revolution, Brown Chicken Brown Cow, and Monterey Bay Aquarium for donating prizes we raffled off to lucky families at the end of the event.

Stay up-to-date on Playworks Northern California events by signing up for our e-newsletter. We hope to see you soon!
