The Second Annual Junior Coach Youth Leadership Conference

  1. Updates

To improve school climate and alleviate playground chaos, Playworks provides each of our partner schools with a youth leadership training program. These youth leaders, or Junior Coaches, are students who exhibit exceptional leadership skills and serve as role models on our playgrounds each and every day. It is both a privilege and a responsibility for these young leaders. In an effort to recognize their hard work and further their development, Playworks created the Junior Coach Youth Leadership Conference (JCYLC).

The Second Annual JCYLC takes place Saturday, April 28, 2012 at UC Berkeley in collaboration with the Cal Football team. Nearly 200 outstanding fourth, fifth, and sixth grade Junior Coaches will be in attendance, as well as each of our phenomenal program coordinators.

During the conference the Junior Coaches will have the opportunity to attend a variety of exciting workshops to enhance their leadership skills as they continue to be exceptional role models in their schools and communities. There will be a total of four workshops; Anti-Bullying, Team Building, Nutrition and Healthy Eating, and Pilates.

Playworks would like thank UC Berkeley for hosting this event at their facilities and express our appreciation to the Cal Football team for spending the day with our Junior Coaches. We would also like to acknowledge our sponsors, PG&E and Way Point Real Estate, for making this day possible. Finally, we would like to thank Doug Brien, co-founder of Way Point Real Estate, for delivering an inspirational address to our Junior Coaches.
