Kick-Off the Holidays with Giving Tuesday

  1. Updates

First Annual #GivingTuesday has been declared to kick off the season of giving.

The season of giving is upon us. This Thanksgiving, millions of Americans will sit around their tables eating delicious food and giving thanks for all they have. Following Thanksgiving, purchasing of gifts will begin, with Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday. New this year… Tuesday, November 27th has been declared Giving Tuesday, a day to kick-off giving to charitable organizations. Dozens of partners, such as the Case Foundation, Microsoft and the United Way have join together to promote a day of giving to jump start the holiday spirit of giving.

It’s a simple idea, on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving take some time to give thanks in another way. Give your time to a local organizations or your old clothes to a person in need or a part of your pay check to a charity. And retailers, charities, individuals and corporations are coming together to incentivize this giving in dozens of ways! Find out how on the #GivingTuesday website.

So on Giving Tuesday, band together with your family or coworkers to spread the giving spirit. Deliver a meal to a person in need. Help your neighbors clean out their gutters. Collect donations for those still recovering from Superstorm Sandy.

At Playworks, we’ll be encouraging our staff to join in and we’re inviting you to join too! You can volunteer at your local chapter of Playworks or donate to Playworks online. Take some time on Tuesday, November 27th for #GivingTuesday!
