Brown Brothers Harriman Collaborates for Success

  1. Updates

Brown Brothers Harriman (BBH) has once again partnered with Playworks to sponsor the Junior Coach Leadership Academy program for 4th and 5th graders in eight different schools throughout Boston. BBH has partnered with Playworks since 2010, ensuring students have the opportunity to engage in safe, healthy play and the opportunity to learn, lead and thrive.

BBH recently hosted 100 Junior Coaches at their main office in downtown Boston for the Collaboration for Success. This was the first time in a downtown Boston business building for many of the 75 Junior Coaches. The curriculum for the Collaboration for Success is designed to deliver collaborative training to Junior Coaches. Through focusing on BBH’s corporate values of communication, healthy collaboration and innovation, Playworks Junior Coaches will strengthen their 21st century leadership skills.

The Junior Coach training was delivered by members of the BBH Cares team. Associates from BBH led activities, games, debrief questions and discussions to help develop the skills the Junior Coaches need to succeed in the classroom, community and future workplace. At the end of the training, the BBH Cares team helped Junior Coaches create resumes that highlighted their skills and awards. Many of the Junior Coaches promised to bring their resumes back to BBH in 15 years!

This partnership provides a high quality volunteer opportunity for BBH employees – which reinforce core values and competencies key to company success – and allows students to visualize the connection between their roles as Junior Coaches and workforce development skills. It also serves to develop mentorship relationships between the students and BBH employees.

Next month, Brown Brothers Harriman will host another field trip for the Junior Coaches. It will be a career and job shadow day, with Junior Coaches given the opportunity to see what positions at BBH may interest them to pursue in their future careers.
