Make a Difference Day with Bloomfield Hills School District

  1. Updates

We are thankful to the students, families and faculty of the Bloomfield Hills School District who worked so hard throughout the month of October to raise money for Playworks Detroit. Each school held bake sales, hat days, sold bracelets and stickers, and hosted other events in order to Save Recess for students in Metro-Detroit.

Their powerful month of fundraising, led by a committee of PTO members, ended with students from throughout the district participating in Make a Difference Day at Bloomfield Hills Middle School.

The event included recess stations run by Playworks coaches and “do” stations where students completed service projects like painting benches for our sports leagues. Joining in the fun was Lions mascot, Roary, and former Lions linebacker, Alex Lewis.

“Our students recognize how important recess is to them and they want to make sure other students can have recess, too,” said Sarah Saltzman, PTO community service co-chair. This dedication to play was made clear by their fantastic results. To date, the district has raised over $12,000 for Playworks, more than doubling their original goal of $5,000!

We would like to send a HUGE Woosh Clap to the Bloomfield Hills School District PTO, for choosing Playworks as their Make a Difference Day beneficiary and working so hard to make the event such a success.

A GIANT Strong Clap goes out to all of the wonderful students, parents, and school staff that chose to support play, allowing us to further our mission of every child getting to play every day!
