Coach Care Cares

  1. Updates

A graduate of Carmel, Indiana schools, Coach Carolyn "Care" loves working in her hometown school district. Driven by her love of the outdoors and her desire to get all kids moving and outside every day to improve their well-being, Coach Care found Playworks to be a natural fit.

"I wanted to work for Playworks because I want to help children be successful in school and life," Coach Care said. "Sometimes physical activity and inclusion are overlooked in elementary schools because of the emphasis on strong academics, and I like to remind the students to have fun and be kids."

Coach Care believes in the strength of the Playworks program and its ability to transform every kid’s recess experience, while also shifting an entire school culture through the practice of inclusion, collaboration, and healthy play. Coach Care finds watching kids apply their conflict resolution strategies during games to be the most rewarding part of recess. What really keeps her rolling is the continuous laughter on Playworks playgrounds around the city. She relies on her favorite cheer “bo-diddily-bop” and her skilled application of the "match me"attention getter to keep things light and lively.

Coach Care brings her special recess magic to Global Preparatory Academy at Riverside 44 next year, as she continues to work with her coach colleagues to build a culture of inclusion through safe and healthy play!
