Playworks Girls Basketball: Bringing Communities Together

  1. Updates

Chicago Bulls star Derrick Rose may still be sidelined with a knee injury, but the Playworks Girls Basketball League provided plenty of excitement on the hardwood this winter. Players showed off their dribbling, passing and defensive prowess while making coaches, parents and school staff proud with their ability to Respect the Game, Play Hard and Have Fun!

Third and fourth graders  from 15 schools across the Chicago came together this season in our developmental basketball league.

Some players were on the court for the first time in their lives! The only thing that could compare to the growth in skills that we saw was the size of the smiles that many of the players wore during the games.

Highlights included former NBA players in attendance, parents hitting half court shots during halftime and all players showing positive sporting behavior, some even doubling back in line for extra post-game high fives.

Leagues are a way to get families and supporters together from many communities to cheer on and encourage learning new skills and increase the kids' confidence to get in the game. Congratulations to all the league participants!!
