Join us for the sixth annual Playworks Run for Recess, a family friendly 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run on Saturday, May 9th. The Run for Recess offers opportunities for the whole family to get involved at Franklin Park’s world-famous cross country course adjacent to the zoo! All participants will enjoy a fun family environment, a electronically timed race, and an awesome goodie bag. Awards will be presented to the top three finishers, as well as certificates for all age and gender categories. Sign up today to support Playworks and get active!
This year, we have announced an exciting new partnership with Positive Tracks and funding partner American Heart Association that will double every dollar raised by ages 23 and under through our Run for Recess. How cool is that? Answer: Very Cool!
Positive Tracks, a national youth-centric organization that helps young people get active and give back, also provides tips and tools plus Beyond the Bake Sale fundraising ideas to get your creative juices flowing! The Positive Tracks program also provides youth participants with guidance and help from Playworks’ Positive Tracks Coordinator, Karleen Herbst, to help kids turn sweat into gold for Playworks Massachusetts.

About Playworks
We believe in the power of play to bring out the best in kids. Playworks Massachusetts supports health and learning for 25,000 elementary students at 40 low-income schools by providing safe, healthy and inclusive play and physical activity at recess and throughout the entire school day. Playworks facilitates and inspires safe, healthy play through two complementary strategies which together have the potential to reach every elementary school child in the U.S. Our first strategy is direct service, which places a full-time Playworks coach in low-income elementary schools. Our second strategy is Playworks Training. Through Training, we provide expert professional development to adult educators at any and all elementary schools that wish to duplicate our model, regardless of geographic location or demographics.
