September Coach of the Month

  1. Updates

Coach Sergio is in his third year with Playworks Arizona. After serving as a coach for a year and a half, Coach Sergio has transitioned into a site coordinator role and is serving four TeamUp schools in the ISAAC Elementary School District. This year, he played an integral part in Arizona’s TeamUp program, launching four Playworks schools in a brand new district.

A native to Phoenix, Coach Sergio is passionate about spreading the Playworks philosophy in his community. He has had tremendous success getting school administration and outside partners to purchase supplemental equipment not provided by Playworks to take his programs to the next level. He even worked with United HealthCare to provide four new soccer goals to his school sites!

Coach Sergio has done an incredible job building rapport with his recess coaches. He provides them with the necessary resources they need to be successful, including working after hours, creating tailored trainings and visuals, and purchasing umbrellas to offer shade from the hot Arizona sun.

Coach Sergio is a valuable asset to our team and will help us achieve our AIM of 7,000 schools by 2020. Let’s give him a big WHOOSH clap! #EnergizeAZ
